Biography

Erica Row is a captivating and musically engaging young soprano with a striking look perfectly suited to the ingénue roles she undertakes. Hailed by the Seattle Post-Intelligencer as “extraordinary”, with a “beautifully clear and agile voice”, and the Tacoma News Tribune for her “facile technique and clear-sighted musicality”, she is noted for her intelligent interpretations and well-rounded musicianship. She was recently heard singing selections from Tamara Kurdadze’s “Confession” at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall.

Ms. Row delights in both opera and concert repertoire. She has recently been heard in Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass and Handel’s Dixit Dominus with the Hartford Chorale and Hartford Symphony Orchestra. Other recent performances include Schoenberg’s Pierrot Lunaire with the Mannes College Pierrot Ensemble and Suor Genovieffa in Suor Angelica at Mannes College, and the role of Yeyette in Steven Sullivan’s Josephine with the Center for Contemporary Opera in New York City.

Ms. Row, a native of Tacoma, Washington, earned her Master’s degree in Vocal Performance from the Mannes College of Music in New York. Her education began at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington where she studied Vocal
Performance and was the winner of the 1996 Tacoma Opera Guild Competition. She has appeared in music festivals at the Goethe Institute, the Liederkranz Society, and Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, and has been heard in many classical and
contemporary works and musical theater roles throughout the country. Her operatic roles include Pamina (The Magic Flute), Adele (Die Fledermaus), Lauretta (Gianni Schicchi),
and Belinda (Dido and Aeneas).
